You were the ending that gave me a new beginning

In every darkness there is light

You never let me into your plight

And every promise you said to me

You had to silently struggle and fight

Fight and fight till you had nothing left

It is hard for me not to blame myself

For the reason that you are now gone

For everything I do now

Could have helped you more

But your ending had given me a new

Beginning, which is much fuller and secure

He comes and lives down the road

From where we used to be

He comes in the quiet moments

Strong, and vulnerable in ways I dreamt of

He comes to the airport at 5 in the morning

And and bears gifts of Kori ice cream

But I didn’t realise that my grief for you

Would be vicariously transferred to him

He is grieving for you and us, as much

As I am as I have fully let him in

In ways he doesn’t know how to process

And the only way he wishes to is possess

I miss him more today as he is

Just down the road and unaccessible

For me and you will forever be connected

But it doesn’t change the way the he is now

My present and my future,

He is now my all

How can I explain to him that missing you

Does not take away from what I have

For him, and by that I mean

Forever and always, now belongs with him

You paved the way for us to meet

If it wasn’t for you,

The concept of Tulsi and Ryo

Might never even exist

I’ve accepted that you are gone

But I needed him to be with me today

To sit and cry, so that I did not have to

Do it alone
