A river has flown to the sea

14th April 2024

A river has flown

to the sea,

My partner has passed,

but I am free

The pain is raw, the sorrow deep,

In restless nights, I lie and weep.

Why him, why him, not me?

Grief's heavy burden, hard to see.

Yet life moves on, though wounds still bleed, My partner's gone, but I am freed.

To seek a path, to find my way,

Through shadows cast by yesterday.

The ache persists, the loss profound,

But in this void, new strength is found.

To honour him, to live, to be,

And cherish days he cannot see.

In memories sweet, I find relief,

In laughter shared, in past belief.

Why him, why him, not me?

The answer lost in destiny.

For now I walk, with heart held high, Beneath the vast and starry sky.

My partner's gone, but I am free,

To live this life, just now, for me.
