I wish you listened to yourself
When you told me to enjoy myself
To live life to the fullest
And follow my dreams
I wish you listened to yourself
To take care of your body
To know what is right from wrong
And care for the mind
I wish you listened to yourself
When you told me to go see the doctor
To care for my mental health
And not live life like a motor
I wish you had listened to yourself
When you told me to go for yoga
To play basketball, and to go for a swim
Why didn’t you join me, now it’s too late
I wish you had listened to yourself
But now you are gone
Drowned in the whisky
No more presence at home
I wish you had listened to yourself
The amount of care you put in others
If only you put just 1% in yourself
You would still be here
I wish you had listened to yourself
When you said I deserve to fly
Why not you, so high
Why not come fly with me?
I wish you had listened to yourself
But you were consumed in sadness
Given all that madness
Now I long for your caress
I wish you had listened to yourself
And not think life was over
There was so much more we had to do
But you did not see it through
I wish you had listened to yourself
But you were ridden with guilt
A suppressed masculine under the carpet
Unable to wade through the filth
I wish you had listened to yourself
And put our lives in perspective
We had so much to live for
But now, the gundu life is gone forever
In the end only three things matter: How much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.
